Who we are
Fishing has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I was seven years old when my father bought an old salmon troller, and from that moment on, I was hooked. Fishing became a calling. Over the years, that passion led to fishing grounds around the world, earning a captain’s license by age 23, and eventually commanding a 160-foot crab boat on the Bering Sea.
After more than 50 years on the ocean, my wife encouraged me to share that experience in a new way. Living hundreds of miles from the coast, we know how difficult it can be to trust where seafood comes from. That’s why we started Captain Rob’s Wild Seafoods—to bring responsibly harvested, wild-caught seafood directly to our community, handled with the same care and respect I followed throughout my career.
In the summer of 2024, we began selling fish in our first open market and had face-to-face conversations with customers—sharing recipes, talking about fishing, and answering questions about sourcing and sustainability. I didn’t expect how meaningful those connections would become. Listening to people’s stories and helping them feel confident about the seafood they were feeding their families has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
We are proud to serve Spokane and the surrounding areas with seafood that can be trusted to be— wild, sustainably harvested, flash-frozen at the peak of freshness, and backed by a lifetime on the water behind every fillet.

Living a fisherman’s life means long months away from home and countless hours at sea. As a ship’s captain who has fished the Alaskan waters in the harshest winter seasons, I’ve seen first-hand the dangers of the ocean and the sacrifices families make to bring seafood to your table.
